Sunday Services
April 2012

May 2012 Sunday Services

All services begin at 11am followed by refreshments at Noon or shortly after. We meet in the Kiwanis Room of the Lochiel Kiwanis Community Centre (LKCC) at 180 College Av. N. (enter at Forsyth St. door). Dress is casual and dogma is hard to find!

May 6: “Building our energy future – a sustainable vision” Guest speaker: John Ward. Service Leader Allan McKeown

The high price of oil and the urgency of the need to address climate change is leading to new ways to produce energy and transition to a low carbon economy. The economic, social and environmental challenges are considerable. • What could a sustainable energy system look like? • What might a sustainable economy look like? • How might we get there? John returns to the Fellowship to share his insights arising from a long career in the automotive and chemical industries and a desire to create and innovate with an always respectful relationship with Nature.

May 13: “Intergenerational Mothers’ Day service: What is mothers’ love? What does it look like?” Guest speaker: Bob Weir. Service Leader Wendy Starr.

Following on from his adventures in India, we invited Bob to return for “Mothers’ Day”. Through stories and images from his own life and from literature, Bob kindles an awakening and cultivates awareness of this special bond between women and their children.

May 20: "Canada Comes Together" Guest speaker: Mike Connell. Service Leader Wendy Cornelis.

Mike, a columnist for the Port Huron Times Herald, shares the unlikely story of how the fierce but capable Atkinson brothers of Port Huron helped create the nation of Canada as we know it today!"

May 27: “The One Thing I Wanted to Change” Guest speaker: Elena Feick. Service Leader Sharon MacKay.

Of all the things I've done to myself, the worst was seeking to deny my sexuality. After years of psychological and spiritual struggle, I have learned that a meaningful life must include complete acceptance of the full self. Elena returns to the Fellowship to share with us her personal, ongoing journey from denial and shame to acceptance and self-love.
